Stormwater Runoff 101
Posted on
Urban runoff is a main source of pollution at beaches across the United States. But solutions, known collectively as "green infrastructure" can reduce the amount of polluted water flowing into our oceans, rivers and lakes. These techniques, which are available today, range from green roofs to permeable pavement and roadside plantings. It's a green wave of urban planning that's making for cleaner blue waters. To find if your beaches are clean, please go to www.nrdc.org to explore NRDC's 20th Testing the Waters beachwater quality guide.

NRDC is sloppy in it’s approach to Action Letters. It turns out they don’t send letters but instead posts the letters as “comments” to government agencies who are required to post all comments. Those comments are posted online as pdfs with your name, address, email address and yes your phone number. This is the dirty little secret NRDC fails to tell you. So if you don’t want your personal info picked up by web crawlers then don’t send action letters for NRDC. If you complain NRDC stonewalls you.

Love it! I hope that most cities will understand the importance of catching the runoff waters before it reaches our streams and ocean.
